Copies of
Police Reports, both accident and incident reports, are
available in the Records Division. It is located on the
2nd floor of the Police Department. Accident Report copies are
$5.00 each, there is no charge for Incident Reports. Please wait at least three (3) days from the
time of the accident or incident to allow us time to
process the report. Copies are also available after
hours and on weekends on the 1st floor of the Police
Department in the Court Clerk's Office.

What is a
Citizens' Academy?
The
Citizen's Academy is a group of Carrollton Citizens who
are interested in learning more about how their police
department operates and the policing challenges our city
faces. Participants in each session commit to
meeting for three hours one night per week, for eleven weeks,
to learn about each aspect of the department.

What is the
purpose of the Citizens' Academy?
The
purpose of the Carrollton Police Citizens' Academy is to
develop positive relations between the police and
community through education. The goals are to create
a growing nucleus of responsible, well-informed citizens
who have the potential of influencing public opinions
about police practices and services. Citizens will
gain an appreciation of the problems and challenges facing
law enforcement and have an opportunity to offer comments
and ideas regarding solutions.

specialized guest speakers.

Any young
man or young woman can sign up to be a Police Explorer.
You must be from 14 (fourteen) to 20 (twenty) years of
age, must accept the Explorer Code, and must maintain good
grades in school.
Meetings
are held twice monthly on Tuesdays at 6:00 p.m. and last
approximately 2 hours. Contact the Post Advisor for
exact dates.
The Post
Advisor is Chad Wilson. He may be contacted in person at
the Carrollton Police Department, by phone at
770-834-4451.
The
meetings are held at the Carrollton Police Department, 115
West Center St. The meeting room is on the 2nd floor in
the Training room.
NO. All
cost to pay for the uniforms and other expenses are paid
for by fundraiser activities.
They are
broken down into training, community service, and
department service and Fun Trips!
Training
We cover crime scene investigation, felony traffic stops,
radio procedures, leadership training, firearms training,
first aid, physical fitness and ride-a-long procedures.
Community Service
Canned food drives, annual Christmas Toy Drive, coat and
blanket drive, visit with Senior Citizens, and
fund-raisers for charitable organizations.
Department Service
The Explorers work in a variety of divisions within the
Carrollton Police Department to earn departmental hours.
These departmental hours are used to evaluate the
Explorers for possible promotion or awards.
Fun Trips
We do a
yearly summer trip, for example this past year we went to
Universal Studios in Orlando, Fla. We go on camping trips
3 - 4 times a year. These camping trips are fully
supervised. We participate in State-wide Explorer
competitions. We have a lot of trophies for our efforts
during the past several years.
How much
time does it take?
Generally, the meetings last about 2 hours; however, it is
up to the individual Explorer as to how much time he or
she spends on Departmental or Community Service.

No, it
doesn't but you must be a student in good standing with a
good attendance record and no disciplinary problems.

What is the
Explorer Code?
The
Explorer Code is a reminder of ethical and moral standards
that an Explorer must constantly be aware of and practice
in their professional Explorer capacity as well as exhibit
in their personal lives.
